Combigrid®

Combigrid® geogrids are laid biaxial or uniaxial geogrids manufactured of extruded monolithic flat structured bars with welded rigid junctions and an integrated nonwoven Secutex® geotextile.

Combigrid® Products
are geogrids of the Secugrid® Q or R range manufactured with an integrated Secutex® nonwoven geotextile. The premanufactured Secutex® monwoven geotextile is placed between the cross-laid flat extruded monolithic bars prior to the welding of the junctions. After the welding process the nonwoven geotextile is fixed rigid between all crossing bars. The mentioned numbers in the product name, e.g. 40/40 for Combigrid® 40/40 Q1/151-GRK 3 indicates the tensile strength [kN/m] in machine and cross machine direction as a 95 % confidence value. The abbreviation behind the raw material code defines the nonwoven geotextile type.

Raw Material
Combigrid® geogrids can be manufactured with polyester (PET) or polypropylene (PP) bars. In the product definition the number behind the R or Q code determines the type of raw material used for the bars, e.g. for Combigrid® 40/40 R6 the 6 indicates that PET and for Combigrid® 40/40 R1 the 1 indicates that PP is the specific raw material.

Aperture Size
The values in the technical data sheets of the aperture size of the grid mesh is typically the value measured from the inside side of one bar to the other.

Roll Imprint
For the identification of Secugrid® the geogrids are continuously imprinted (at least every 5 m). The imprint is carried out on bars in cross machine direction.

Cross-section of a soil reinforcement of farming access roads. The composite product Combigrid® is installed on the weak subsoil and covered with the base course material. With this method the bearing capacity of the base course is improved and the filter stability between subsoil and base course material is ensured.

To prevent settlements in the new construction of the storage site for wings of wind mills it was necessary to place a Secugrid 60/60 Q1 geogrid under the base course. To additionally improve its performance and reduce settlements Secugrid® was pre-stressed up to 2 %. In several areas a second reinforcement was necessary and Combigrid® 40/40 Q6/201 GRK 3 was used.
